I loved Imogeli but As I remember Eli basically told Imogen they don't have to do anything if she doesn't want to. If Imogen did spend the night but wasn't ready for sex I think Eli would respect her for that. You can see in her eyes she wasn't ready and I think thats why Eli said that to her. Not to scare her off.

Why is it a big deal? Eli is a horny teenage boy. He was reacting on hormones at the time. I think it's pretty obvious that Eli really wants to get into Clare's pants.
It’s just a big deal to me because I never thought Eli was the type of guy to just jump into it. He didn’t jump into it with Clare (cause he knew the type of girl she was). I know that he’s a teenage boy with hormones but I always thought of him as the guy who can control them (i.e. when he’s with Clare). So when I saw him jump into it with Imogen and ask her to sleep over, it came as a shock to me. However, it most likely was this way because he knew she wasn’t like Clare.
And I know he wants to get into Clare’s pants, he just does a really good job of controlling himself with her.
